Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Behavior Specialist to support students with behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs. The role focuses on developing and implementing evidence-based behavior intervention strategies to promote positive learning outcomes and inclusive classroom environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess student behavior and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Implement and monitor Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies
- Collaborate with special education teachers, counselors, and school administrators
- Support students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, and emotional/behavioral challenges
- Provide direct behavioral support in classroom and one-on-one settings
- Track, analyze, and report student progress using data-driven methods
- Train and coach teachers and support staff on behavior management techniques
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized goals
- Ensure compliance with special education policies and ethical standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of special education behavior management strategies
- Experience with ABA techniques, positive behavior supports, and classroom interventions
- Ability to conduct behavioral assessments and data analysis
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Patience, empathy, and strong problem-solving abilities
Education & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or related field
- Experience working with children with special needs in educational or clinical settings
- Certification such as RBT, BCaBA, BCBA, or equivalent is a plus
