The Role

As the engineering manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the manufacturing process of a globally recognised organisation and play your role in adhering to stringent quality standards whilst ensuring commitment to sustainable practises. The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing a team of engineers across all functional areas to improve overall equipment performance and to further develop existing preventative/planned maintenance and process control systems.

You will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage a team of 6 direct reports and several indirect reports within the business.

  • Develop and implement a strategic development plan for site infrastructure, processes, and production capabilities.

  • Attend senior management meetings and contribute to strategic discussions.

  • Develop and maintain maintenance policies and procedures.

  • Manage PMS schedules and spare parts systems.

  • Control budgets for spare parts purchases.

  • Contribute to project design and development.

  • Manage contractor work for safety, efficiency, and value.

  • Collaborate with production and development on new projects.

  • Monitor and control environmental impact.

  • Manage and motivate direct reports.

  • Prioritise, plan, and coordinate activities.

  • Prepare and control departmental budgets.

  • Apply company policies and procedures.


The Person

To be considered for this position applicants must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering-related subject

  • Food Safety Level 3

  • HACCP Level 3

  • Previous engineering management experience within a food manufacturing environment.

  • Proven track record of managing large teams and diverse technical and engineering activities.

  • Experience in developing and implementing capital expenditure plans.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.

  • Proven track record in cost control, health and safety and management of quality systems.

  • Knowledge of legislative and environmental controls relating to the safe use of plants and machinery.

  • Proven track record in the management and implementation of PPM CMMS-based management systems.

  • Able to cope under pressure and flex with peaks in personal workload.

  • Able to use, create, understand, and act upon trends from management operating systems.
