About the job General Manager

General Manager

£90,000-£10,000

Inclusion IQ is proud to represent a high-growth European group that is currently executing a significant phase of strategic acquisitions and integration. We are seeking a heavy-hitting General Manager to lead a flagship site through a period of structural evolution.

The business is transitioning from a successful, independent operational model into a sophisticated corporate group structure. We need a leader who can maintain the sites high-performance culture while introducing the governance, reporting, and systems required for a modern, multi-site enterprise.

The Role

Reporting to the Board/MD, you will have autonomous control of a major facility and its associated P&L. This is a role for a "commercial operator"—someone who understands the fine details of a busy, 24/7 technical operation but can also sit at the boardroom table to discuss margin, strategy, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Command: Full accountability for a large-scale, high-volume facility, ensuring maximum efficiency and service delivery.

  • P&L Ownership: Manage the financial performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities and driving revenue through operational excellence.

  • Change Leadership: Lead through a "maturity journey," upgrading legacy processes to align with new group-wide standards and systems.

  • Technical Compliance: Ensure the facility meets the most stringent regulatory and safety standards (High-care/High-compliance environment).

  • Strategic Resource Management: Proactively manage complex labour models and facility overheads to ensure the site remains lean and agile.

  • Client Interface: Act as the senior escalation point and commercial lead for high-value accounts.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven Site Leadership: 5+ years as a General Manager (or equivalent) overseeing a large-scale, 24/7 operation with a significant headcount.

  • High-Compliance Background: Experience in environments with rigorous technical/safety audits (e.g., highly regulated storage, manufacturing, or sensitive distribution).

  • Transformation Experience: A proven track record of professionalising an operation or managing a site through an acquisition/merger.

  • Commercial Fluency: Strong financial background with the ability to manage complex budgets and present data-driven insights to stakeholders.

  • People First: A leadership style that prioritises engagement and development over simple task management.
