Job Openings SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) Developer

About the job SQL Server Integration Service (SSIS) Developer

1. Background and Justification

The client is advancing the implementation of the SS&C ALGO solution to support Asset and Liability Management (ALM), risk analytics, financial calculations, and related reporting capabilities.

The implementation requires reliable interfaces between internal source systems, data repositories, and the SS&C ALGO platform, including data extraction, transformation, validation and reconciliation rules, secure file transfer, exception handling, and operational monitoring.

To support the implementation and stabilization of these interfaces, the client requires a technical consultant with hands-on experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and, preferably, cloud development capabilities.

The consultant will help design, build, test, troubleshoot, document, and support data integration components used by the implementation team. The ideal profile should be proactive, collaborative, energetic, and eager to learn, while maintaining solid technical discipline and attention to quality.

Note: SSIS is required for the current implementation. Cloud development experience is desirable, as the client is planning to gradually move away from the current technology toward modern cloud-based solutions.

2. Objective

The objective of this consultancy is to provide technical support for the design, development, testing, deployment, and operational support of SS&C ALGO data interfaces, with emphasis on:

  • SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • SQL Server
  • Cloud-based integration patterns
  • Automation
  • Data validation and reconciliation
  • Production readiness and operational support

3. Scope of Services

The consultant shall provide specialized services covering interface development, ETL automation, cloud integration support, testing, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

Interface Development and SSIS Implementation

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain SSIS packages supporting the SS&C ALGO interface implementation.
  • Implement data extraction, transformation, mapping, validation, reconciliation, and loading routines using SQL Server and SSIS.
  • Support secure batch integration processes, including file generation, naming conventions, archival, logging, and exception handling.
  • Assist with deployment preparation, configuration management, and environment-specific parameterization across development, testing, UAT, and production environments.

Cloud Development and Integration Support

  • Support cloud-oriented integration components, automation scripts, orchestration jobs, and monitoring processes as required by the solution architecture.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, database, and application teams to align interface components with the client standards for security, access, and operational resilience.
  • Contribute to modernization discussions where existing integration logic may be simplified, reused, or migrated to cloud-compatible services.

Data Validation, Testing, and UAT Support

  • Develop and execute technical unit tests, integration tests, reconciliation checks, and data quality validations for interface outputs.
  • Analyze discrepancies by tracing data from source systems through transformation layers and SS&C ALGO input files or staging objects.
  • Support UAT preparation, defect triage, root-cause analysis, issue documentation, and remediation tracking with business and technology stakeholders.

Operational Support and Documentation

  • Prepare technical documentation, data mappings, package inventories, deployment notes, monitoring procedures, and operational support guides.
  • Support production readiness activities, including runbooks, restart procedures, auditability, controls, and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
  • Participate in working sessions with Finance, Risk Management, Technology, vendor teams, and project stakeholders as required.

4. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain SSIS and SQL-based solutions and develop robust ETL workflows with logging, error handling, restorability, reconciliation points, and clear operational controls.
  • Participate as a developer in the migration from SSIS and SQL-based solutions to modern cloud applications.
  • Help identify opportunities to accelerate delivery by simplifying custom development, reusing existing components, or reducing unnecessary complexity where appropriate.
  • Maintain clear documentation and communicate progress, risks, blockers, and dependencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work closely with business analysts, data owners, developers, database administrators, cloud engineers, and vendor resources to resolve issues and improve interface reliability.

5. Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant Microsoft SSIS, Azure, SQL Server, data engineering, or cloud certifications are desirable.

Professional Experience

  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in data integration, ETL development, SQL Server, cloud development, or application integration projects.
  • Hands-on experience developing, troubleshooting, deploying, and supporting SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages is required.
  • Experience working with financial systems, risk systems, regulatory reporting, or ALM-related platforms is desirable.
  • Experience supporting UAT, production deployments, incident resolution, and technical documentation is desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong SQL Server development skills, including stored procedures, views, query optimization, data validation, and reconciliation scripts.
  • Advanced practical knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services, including package design, connection managers, parameters, environment variables, logging, error handling, and deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, batch processing, secure file transfer, DevOps practices, version control, scheduling/orchestration, and monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of data modeling, source-to-target mapping, metadata, lineage, and data quality controls.
  • Ability to clearly document technical designs, operational runbooks, test evidence, and issue resolution steps.
