DEPARTMENT: PROCESSING - SMELTERS

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To transport material and equipment safely by means of road vehicles and general material handling purposes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12/Std 10 (NQF Level 4) is essential.
  • Drivers' License Code C1 is essential.
  • Drivers' License Code EC with PRDP will be advantageous.
  • 3 years working experience as a Front-End Loader is essential.
  • Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in a workplace
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the road network
  • Demonstrate an awareness of customer service
  • Perform basic fire fighting and basic first aid
  • Operate earth moving equipment
  • Apply basic road transport managerial principles

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Transports waste rock/reverts/Silica sand/coal at Mineral Processing by means of Earth moving Equipment: Articulated Dump Truck, Front End Loader, Forklifts, Tractor Loader Backhoe.
  • Safely operates and control rigid/articulated trucks.
  • Receives and executes the transport/load/delivery schedules.
  • Completes daily pre-use checklists.
  • Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope
  • and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
  • Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions where required.
  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
