PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manufacture and reproduce mechanical parts in a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 or NQF equivalent 4 is essential.
• Recognised relevant Trade Qualification is essential.
• 3-5 years working experience as an artisan

COMPETENCIES:

• Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace
• Identify engineering materials (R134a), their characteristics and applications, system
• operation and common metal tests used in engineering
• Demonstrate an awareness of customer service

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Attends to callouts with regards to mechanical breakdowns
• Designs basic mechanical components
• Diagnoses and repairs faults on equipment and machinery during production/operation.
• Commissions assembly/machines.
• Refurbishes/overhauls machines.
• Performs routine maintenance on:
• direct and indirect drives
• pipe and lubricating systems
• dynamic and static seals in machines and / or equipment
• bearings in machines and equipment
• heat exchangers and pressure vessels
• gearboxes and pumps
• Grind tools and drill bits
• Mills including all its auxiliaries
• Compressors
• Pumps
• Crushers
• Conveyors
• Furnaces, spray and flash dryers, converters and acid plant equipment.
• Develops new tooling or modify existing tooling when required.
• Maintains, repairs, changes and sets tooling.
• Moves, lifts, lowers and looks after tooling.
• Interprets technical reports.
• Compiles feasibility and commissioning reports.
• Fills in job cards recording work done and parts replaced.
