POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position will be part of the dynamic team based at SMC Concentrator reporting to the Shift Superintendent.

JOB TITLE – Senior Plant Operator
JOB GRADING – C3
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 O' levels including Mathematics, English and Science
- Diploma in Mineral Processing/Extractive Metallurgy or NEC Certificate for Plant Operators
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Junior Plant Operator in a Smelter or Concentrator
- Knowledge of the Business Management System (BMS)
LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:
- A self-starter with excellent interpersonal, planning and problem-solving skills
- Supervisory experience is a must
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Enforcing safety, health and environmental standards
- Supervising section of the plant
- Implementing plant operating strategies to improve performance and meet business plan objectives
- Notifying the Shift Superintendent of equipment and plant malfunctions or breakdowns
- Assisting in the coordination of planned and unplanned shutdowns to ensure sustainable plant operation
- Ensuring availability and enforcement of operating procedures for all critical tasks to ensure a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation
- Leading and maintaining discipline in the plant
- Training subordinates
- Ensuring good housekeeping in the plant.
- Supporting the Business Management System (BMS)
