PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise and assist the team in the safe execution of all electrical activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential
- Electrical Trade Certificate is essential
- Medium Voltage Certificate is essential
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering is advantageous
- Foreman/Supervisory development programme/qualification will be advantageous
- Minimum 3-5 years' Experience as an Electrician in a Processing environment is essential
- Concentrator Plant experience is advantageous
COMPETENCIES:
- Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
- Understand basic electronic theory and components
- Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of energy efficiency
- Select, inspect, use and maintain measurement, test and calibration equipment
- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- SAP knowledge
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises electrical maintenance activities.
- Guides and assists Electricians with daily maintenance activities.
- Maintains control of Electrical workshops, stores and main sub-stations.
- Analyses and solves electrical problems.
- Stays informed on the latest technology for application or replacement of present electrical technology and divulges the necessary information to personnel.
- Attends to callouts with regards to electrical breakdowns.
- Assists with fault finding of leaky feeder systems.
- Maintains unit protection devices on transformers.
- Operates on low voltage networks.
- Provides adequate workshop store facility and stock levels for efficient maintenance and productivity levels.
- Designs and constructs Single Phase circuits and Three Phase Circuits.
- Constructs and commissions Low/Medium/High Voltage networks.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
