DEPARTMENT: BMR ENGINEERING / UTILITIES ELECTRICAL

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that the plant is in a safe, healthy, and environmentally good condition. To ensure maximum plant availability and adequate plant maintenance to production/operations to achieve a business plan and optimum production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recognised Trade Certificate as Electrician
  • National Diploma / N6 (NQF Level 6) in Engineering
  • Supervisor course essential
  • Minimum 5 years' post‑trade experience, preferably in a chemical plant or heavy industrial environment.
  • Sound knowledge of engineering and maintenance processes; applicable legislation and safety standards and plant equipment and maintenance systems
  • Computer literacy required (SAP, MS Office etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication- and customer orientation skills
  • Must be medically fit for Base Metal Refinery (BMR)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, company procedures and rules
  • Supervise and manage maintenance team to ensure optimal plant performance
  • Plan and execute preventative, planned, and breakdown maintenance
  • Minimise downtime and ensure efficient response to plant failures
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, legislation, and company procedures
  • Manage maintenance budgets, costs, and spares effectively
  • Monitor team performance, provide coaching, and support development
  • Compile reports and ensure accurate maintenance records
  • Support projects, plant improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives
