PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely monitor and control the effective and efficient operation in a Transport Department according to Impala's set standards and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent is essential
- Processor and process supervisory specific modules is essential
- 2 years Transport Shift Leader experience working as a Code EC driver/ Bus driver/ Earth moving driver/ Call Out and Courier/ Stores driver in Transport Department is essential.
- Any experience as a Transport Supervisor is desirable.
COMPETENCIES:
- Prepare, use and operate all equipment to support and maintain the process and follow all written procedures
- Basic First Aid knowledge
- Good communication skills (Fluent in English)
- Excellent Excel, MS Word & PowerPoint skills (Level 3)
- SAP
- Report writing & minute taking skills
- Analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Liaises effectively between the Shift Foreman and Section Supervisors.
- Oversees that shift duties are conducted accordingly.
- Adequately trains all personnel including new and ex-leaves.
- Supervises all loading and off-loading activities of passengers.
- Ensures all quality control procedures are followed.
- Inspects and confirms that all work is conducted safely.
- Assigns duties to subordinates based on role and skills.
- Supervises subordinates and assist in tasks where necessary.
- Monitors attendance, tardiness and time off
- Ensures the quality and accuracy of the data received.
- Update and shares the daily stats and dispatch reports to all concerned/affected parties within the organisation.
- Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions where required.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports noncompliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
