POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will be part of the dynamic team based at Smelter Engineering reporting to the Mechanical Foreman.

JOB TITLE – Artisan Class 1 Fitter

JOB GRADING – C4

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Apprentice trained Class 1 Fitter
• 5 'O' level passes including Mathematics, English and Science
• A recognised technical qualification in mechanical engineering preferably National Certificate. An HND/ND or City and Guilds would be an added advantage
• 5 years' post-apprenticeship experience in maintenance of mining processing equipment in a heavy engineering environment
• Knowledge of planned, preventative maintenance systems
• Familiarity with Zimplats Management System and SAP will be added advantage

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

• A self-starter with excellent interpersonal, planning and problem-solving skills
• Supervision experience is a must

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carrying out routine and scheduled maintenance work
• Maintaining all plant machinery and equipment
• Providing supervision and enforcing standards as per statutory requirements and standard work procedures
• Supporting and implementing the Business Management System (BMS)
