POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will be part of the dynamic team based at Smelter reporting to the Senior Production Metallurgist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• HND in Metallurgy/Process/Chemical Engineering
• At least 4 years' experience in a processing/mining environment
• Experience in major refractory projects such as furnace and hot gas generator relines

• Computer literacy (SAP & Microsoft Office)
• Familiarity with Zimplats Management System

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:

• Root causes analysis, problem solving, supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee matte and slag tap-block maintenance and slag disposal compliance
• Coordinate with service and engineering departments to ensure efficient plant operations and maintenance scheduling
• Provide technical expertise to resolve operational and maintenance challenges
• Manage contractors and ensure compliance within areas of responsibility
• Lead Smelter audits, including planning, execution, and closure of findings
• Ensure plant housekeeping, safe work practices, and environmental compliance
• Analyse process data and direct quality control activities to optimize plant performance
• Develop, supervise, and maintain competent staffing for effective operations
• Optimize plant capacity and performance in line with business plans and targets
• Prepare operational plans, performance reports, and monitor budgets.
• Support and implement the Business Management System (BMS).
