PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide clinical, operational and leadership oversight of the unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, high quality emergency care. To ensure effective utilisation of resources, compliance with clinical standards and coordination of emergency responses to achieve optimal patients' outcomes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 NQF Level 4 is essential
- General Nursing diploma/degree is essential
- Postgraduate Diploma in Trauma and Emergency is essential
- Nursing Management diploma/degree is desirable
- Minimum of 7 years working experience as a Chief Professional Nurse is essential
- Working as Trauma and Emergency nurse is essential
- Experience as Casualty Supervisor or Trauma and Emergency manager is essential

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Identifies and determines the departmental needs and resources to ensure smooth running of the department.
- Monitors and controls activities within the department by effective supervision, continuous in-service education and coaching in accordance with the relevant laws that governs the nursing profession.
- Supervises, facilitates and liaises with other departments within IMS, organisation and external service providers including CMB arrangements.
- Ensures effective management of the wellness and ARV programmes.
- Ensures that the department is managed within the budgetary plans provided including maintenance, control of equipment and emergency services.
- Attends promptly to customer/clients concerns and complaints.
- Identifies health and safety risks and develops preventive mechanisms.
- Facilitates the effective general administrative work at casualty, ambulance department and OPD.
