DEPARTMENT: South Shaft
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely install, maintain and repair electrical systems, equipment and machinery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) or NQF level 4
- Recognised relevant Trade Qualification or NTC 2 specialised course
- 3 Years experience as an electrician
- Minimum 2 Years experience is essential in the following:
- MV (33kV & 6.6 kV) cable installation, termination, fault finding & repairs
- Construction, installation, operation and maintenance of MV electrical networks including switchgear
- Substation Maintenance
- MV testing equipment
- Conveyor maintenance and repairs
- Maintenance and repairs of overhead cranes
COMPETENCIES:
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
- Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal relations and implement remedial actions where required.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in workplace.
- Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
- Demonstrate and understanding of the uses and safety aspects associated with flammable energy sources
- Understand basic electronic theory and components
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic programmable logic controllers
- Demonstrate an understanding of fault-finding techniques on field instrumentation
- Demonstrate an understanding of principles of Process control Loops
- Demonstrate an awareness of customer service
- Respond to hazardous and emergency conditions
- Operating computer systems
- VSD and soft starters knowledge
- Read and interpret instrumentation drawings
- Produce detailed engineering drawings
