PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure safe and effective offloading of hoppers as per safe working procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential
  • 1-3 years' work experience as a Bin Off loader is essential
  • 1 year experience in Shunting and Materials & Tools equipment identification is essential
  • Valid Medical Certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
  • Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard

free and recommends remedial action where necessary.

  • Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal and external relations and implements remedial actions

where required.

  • Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
  • Foster and maintain customer relations
  • Implements initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
  • Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimisation.
  • Ensures that the offloading time is maintained
  • Maintains constant communication with the control room operator regarding defects and bin levels.
  • Checks Call equipment and ensure that it is in a good condition
  • Takes responsibility for the sand stock by ensuring the correct level is kept.
  • Inspects the work area and report all defects to the engineering department
  • Ensures compliance to safe work procedures and standards
  • Ensure that all equipment is available for completion of tasks
  • Assists the supervisor with the normal HR functions e.g. attendance
  • General equipment repairs and to ensure that hopper spans are prepared for service and be able to identify safety related mechanical defects.
