PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To oversee production at an operational/tactical management level

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) certificate plus a Mine Overseer Certificate of competency is essential
  • Holder of a Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines is essential
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as Production Shift Supervisor is essential
  • Competent B Skills Programme is essential
  • Previous experience as Mine Overseer would be advantageous.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Package) is essential
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound leadership skills are essential
  • Valid medical certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Planning to achieve short term and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Controlling the set financial budget.
  • Supervising and directing people at work to ensure compliance with the applicable legislation.
  • Ensuring agreements are adhered to and direct implementation of agreed policies.
  • Emphasizing the importance of reaching a work objective and motivating individuals.
  • Evaluating the work of others upon completion.
  • Ensuring effective co-ordination of mining activities.
  • Checking work completion to set standards.
  • Evaluating written reports of all services departments.
  • Maintaining and handling discipline
