Transfer Bin Crew Leader

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure safe and effective offloading of hoppers as per safe working procedure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/NQF Level 4/STD 10 is a distinct advantage
• Computer literacy (MS Word and MS Excel) would be an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years working experience as a Bin Off-Loader is essential
• Valid Medical Certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge of basic safety principles is essential.
• Supervisory and Transfer Bin Offloading skills are essential.
• Disciplinary handling skills is essential.
• Basic First aid training is essential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Ensure effective supervision, hold subordinates accountable and encourage good teamwork
• Complete pre shift inspection and workplace hazard identification.
• Ensure that offloading times are adhered to.
• Maintain constant communication with the control room operator regarding defects at offloading bins.
• Check all working equipment and ensure that it is in a good condition to be used.
• Over inspect work area and report all defects to the shift foreman.
• Ensure compliance to safe work procedures and standards.
• Ensure that all equipment is available for completion of tasks.
• Assist the supervisor with the normal HR functions.
• Always ensure good housekeeping.
• Ensure that safety chain barricades are in place after every activity at offloading bins.
