PURPOSE OF THE JOB: 

Manage and co-ordinate the Specialized Function Control and Instrumentation function for a business unit to ensure continuous improvement in operational efficiency through optimizing current or implementing new Technology according to client needs and organizational objectives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • A Recognized Degree/Diploma in relevant field is essential
    • PMI SP (Schedule Professional) / PMI PMP (Project Management Professional) or relevant equivalent is essential
    • At least 10 years in a C& I Operational or C&I Project environment is essential
    • 3-5 years experience in Project Management is essential
    • At least 8 years operation experience is essential
    • 5 years Managerial experience is essential
    • Must have knowledge in Computer Aided Engineering and applications
    • Valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Analyse the area's financial needs in order to integrate discipline/technical and financial requirements to ensure sufficient financial resources according to the organisational strategy for same
    • Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
    • Report the variances according to financial requirements.
    • Interprets organizational technology strategy and formulate technology implementation and/or upgrade plans in accordance with established project management principles.
    • Identify and develop appropriate practices, specifications, and standards for the C&I discipline
    • Co-ordination, identification and development of appropriate technology solutions to meet specific operational objectives.
    • Executes assigned discipline-based activity by assigning the appropriate resources to meet project/operational objectives.
    • Continuously evaluate processes or systems or products to identify shortcomings that can appropriately be addressed with technological opportunities
    • Undertakes change management in accordance with organizational requirements during implementation or upgrading of technology/ associated systems
    • Execution of discipline design (systems, equipment, and products) through to documentation and data pack management
    • Validate Economic effectiveness of systems or solutions or technology
    • Risk evaluation and mitigation within design of systems, equipment and products (technical and SHE)
    • Participate in project teams or lead projects according to the organizational standards, PMBOK
    • Provide technical consulting services to the operations and disciplines in the area of specialization
    • Ensure and monitor adherence to Safety and Security programs and objectives
    • Manages subordinates by setting KPI's and monitoring the attainment of specific objectives and taking corrective action to correct deviations to achieve the departmental/sectional objectives.
    • Plans and co-ordinates the work area's workload to ensure the attainment of set performance targets/objectives.
    • Prepares career development plans, appraises progress and provides training and coaching to develop subordinates to their full potential
    • Establishes and maintains a competency knowledge base and keeps abreast with new technological developments
    • Co-ordination of design effort and integration across disciplines to ensure seamless integration with chosen technology systems
