PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise TM3 Artisans in the maintenance and repair of trackless mobile machinery inclusive of legal mandatory compliance tests to ensure safe and up-to standard machines

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

    • N3 plus a recognised Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate is essential
    • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) is essential
    • Computer literacy (MS Office package) is essential
    • Acting role as TM3 Foreman would be considered an advantage
    • 3-5 years experience as an artisan on underground trackless mobile machinery is essential
    • Hydraulics experience would be considered an advantage
    • Competent to construct and interpret ISO schematic engineering drawings
    • Must maintain a high standard of work and have good organizing and delegate skills
    • Must be prepared to work overtime and standby
    • Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintaining control of Engineering workshops and trackless mobile machinery,
    • Attending to callouts with regards to breakdowns
    • Conducting on-the-job training and coaching
    • Planning and co-ordinate daily, major maintenance and breakdowns of the section
    • Issuing of work orders to artisan and attending to all departmental meetings
    • Responsible for all department spares and consumable stock control
    • Involvement in project work (belt extensions, pipe installation & continuous improvement work
    • Enforce compliance with the MHSAct and regulations on my department
    • Ensuring that subordinates adhere to all company standards, safe work procedures and compliance to safety.
    • Creating and follow up on department purchase requisition orders and also managing departmental costs
    • Meeting with suppliers on issues concerning spares, projects & service which is to be done in the mine
    • Attending relevant meetings and enforcing discipline in my department
    • Identifying new opportunities to improve overall equipment availability and stability of the section
