About the job Manager: Transport

PURPOSE OF THE JOB To manage and co-ordinate the activities of Impala Rustenburg Transport Department through the safe and cost-effective transportation of employees and ore from hostels to shafts and shafts to plants to reach and exceed the business plan tonnes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 / Std 10 / University Entrance (NQF 4) is essential.
  • A Degree or Diploma in Transport Management OR
  • A Degree or Diploma in Engineering is essential.
  • Minimum of 5-years General Managerial experience is essential.
  • Minimum of 4-years' experience in Traction Engineering is desirable.
  • A valid medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Must have working knowledge of finance and budget processes and procedures.
  • Must have working knowledge of SAP (maintenance section).
  • Knowledge of Basic Business Practices, Procedures, Objectives and Strategies are
  • essential.
  • Knowledge of Safety Regulations and Risk Management theories and principles

are essential.

  • Knowledge of Operation Processing Services and Capabilities are essential.
  • Knowledge of Service Management Processes and Procedures are essential
  • Conflict and Dispute Management skills are essential.
  • Problem Management skills are essential.
  • Presentation and Communication skills are essential.
  • Computer Literacy is essential.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Manage and co-ordinate the total infrastructure to ensure the effective and safe
  • transportation of employees to and from work.
  • Ensure transportation of reef from shafts on demand to allow shaft skips to run and clear
  • the shaft of mined rock.
  • Ensure the timeous removal of waste rock from shaft boxes to allow further development.
  • Ensure that roads, rails and equipment are maintained to the Impala standard.
  • Ensure engineering w/shop practices are of highest standard.
  • Ensure materials are delivered to the shafts and plants in a safe, timeous and cost-
  • effective manner.
  • Ensure that costs are contained within business plan parameters in respect of working
  • costs, renewal costs and capital costs.
  • Ensure that safety standards, policies and procedures are adhered to in order to achieve
  • business plan targets.
  • Implement activities in order to ensure that the road and rail infrastructure is of a high
  • standard.
  • Co-ordinate the planned maintenance process in order to ensure that the vehicle fleet is
  • maintained in accordance with standards.
