PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To take charge To monitor and control the safe repairing of Rock drill/Air Leg/ Pumps

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 9 or NQF Level 3 certificate is essential.
• A Valid Rock Drill Operator Certificate of Competence is essential
• Competent B skills programme is essential
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a panel Rock Drill Operator on a conventional Mine is essential operating a handheld pneumatic (or hydro) Drill
• Knowledge of mine standards best practices, risk management and operational business objectives
• Valid Medical Certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

The successful candidate is responsible for:

• Assisting the team in conducting entry examination as per mine standard
• Ensuring health, safety and housekeeping in the workplace
• Receiving and conveying instructions from Miner on work priorities
• Planning, organising, Leading and controlling activities in the drilling process.
• Drill holes by means of remote operated rock drill machine for the purpose
• of tendon support installation in the hanging wall
• Drill shot and pilot holes for primary and secondary blasting in an underground working place
• Support the team in the working area in installing support by means of
• anchors placed into drilled holes, elongated support units that are hydraulic stressed packs
