Fitter and Turner - Refrigeration

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manufacture and reproduce mechanical parts in a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/STD10/NQF Level 4 is essential.
• Recognized relevant Trade qualification (section 13/26D) is essential.

OR

• Proof of recognized completed apprenticeship contract (completed by means of effluxion of time) AND
• NTC 2 (Relevant Trade Theory) Qualification is essential.
• Valid SARACCA registration is essential.
• Sound knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Howden, York fridge plants and all its ancillary equipment is essential.
• 3 years working experience as a Fitter within the Refrigeration environment is essential.
• Knowledge of R134a refrigeration plant is essential.
• Knowledge of the system operation is essential.
• Valid Code EB (08) drivers license is essential.

• Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

• Self-driven, highly motivated with excellent people skills
• Ability to work independently and in groups.
• How to control Ammonia Spill

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Conduct an analysis on the plant to determine if the plant is operating according to operational plant philosophy.
• Conduct fault-finding and repairs on the plant when required to.
• Conduct maintenance as per the OEM specifications and Impala standards:

-  Daily visual inspection

-  Weekly maintenance

-  Monthly maintenance

-  Three monthly maintenance

• Adhere to safety, good housekeeping, and environmental standards, rules, and regulations.
• Work overtime and attend to call-outs when required.
• Carry out the Overhead Crane inspection in the plant rooms and conduct pre-use inspection on lifting equipment
