Job Title: Winding Engine Driver

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To operate a mine winder safely in order to transport men, materials, and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 10 / Std. 8 Certificate is essential.
• Valid banksman/Onsetter certificate is essential
• 3 Years working experience in shaft barrel as a Banksman/Onsetter or Shaft Timberman is essential
• Testimony of sobriety and good conduct
• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and Mine Minerals Act
• A working knowledge of the function of a Winding Engine Driver on a vertical shaft
• National Certificate: Winding Engine Driving is essential

COMPETENCIES:

• Operate a direct current winder (licensed)
• Operate an alternating current winder (licensed)
• Operate a friction driven winder

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Starting and controlling a winder
• Transporting individuals by means of a winder
• Reporting any faults and sub-standard conditions
• Maintaining the housekeeping standards in the work area
