Senior Hoist Technician

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Coordinate, plan and facilitate all 3rd party audits, inspections and maintenance pertaining to the winding plants. Including covering and coordinating major breakdowns with OEM or subject matter experts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12/ STD 10 (NQF Level 4) is essential
• Electrical/Instrumentation Trade Certificate is essential
• Electrical/Instrumentation Diploma or NQF 6 equivalent
• 2 years Winding Plant Commissioning Engineer Experience
• 2 Years Electronic Lily Experience
• 2 Years Supervisory Experience
• PLC programming, fault finding and diagnostics experience
• General Electric (GE) MV7000 DC Drive Experience is advantageous
• Hoist Technician Experience is advantageous

COMPETENCIES:

• Adhering Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of all winding plant laws and regulations
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematic diagrams
• Skill in using computerized diagnostic equipment and precision measuring instruments
• Strong background in electrical troubleshooting
• Extensive knowledge of the principles, methods, tools, and equipment used in the winding plant operation

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees, plans, and participates in audits, inspection and maintenance as may be required.
• Inspects winding plant and equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to determine equipment availability.
• Ensures planned maintenance task list are in line with the OEM recommendations.
• Diagnoses and repairs winding plant and equipment, interiors, control panels, and related equipment as may be required.
• Diagnoses and repairs electrical and electronic malfunctions.
• Performs emergency repairs to return the winding plant and equipment to safe operation.
• Removes and replaces major systems and individual components for repair or replacement.
• Maintains all required records.
