PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To co-ordinate, facilitate and liaise on a tactical level regarding engineering support services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)/N3 Certificate is essential
  • A recognized Electrical/Mechanical (Section 13/26D) Trade Certificate is essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an underground Engineering Superintendent is essential
  • At least 10 years s relevant working experience is essential
  • Relevant exposure and knowledge with regards to decline conveyor belts and related underground mining equipment is essential
  • Knowledge of other engineering trade is essential
  • Must have a valid medical certificate or must be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Performance management skills is essential.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office package) is essential.
  • Knowledge of SAP maintenance systems would be considered advantage.
  • Knowledge of other engineering trade is essential
  • Must be self-driven and highly motivated with strong leadership skills
  • Must maintain a high standard of work
  • Must have good organizing and delegation skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To achieve and maintain plant and equipment efficiency and running time
  • To implement contingency plans to reduce production losses
  • To implement effective operational and tactical management principles and procedures
  • To effectively monitor via budgeting and project management methodologies
  • Reporting to the Operation Engineers on conveyor belts and related mining equipment status
  • Supervising the belts Foreman and Artisans to maintain the mining equipment (Belts, Rock breaker and Pumps) and associated infrastructure on a day-to-day basis
  • Controlling and optimizing of the conveyor belts performance.
  • Being involved in managing HSE standards including good housekeeping
  • Implementing maintenance strategy and plans for engineering equipment and Systems
  • Effectively managing the logistics processes inclusive of in timely ordering of spares and
  • project requisites and transportation to work areas.
  • Effectively controlling critical and strategic spares stock and re-ordering.
  • Ensuring compliance & review legislative and engineering standards
  • Effectively monitoring cost via budgeting and project management methodologies
