Electrical Serviceman UTS

PURPOSE OF THE JOB To safely inspect and maintain low voltage electrical equipment and machinery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 /Std 10 (NQF 4) will be a distinct advantage
• Serviceman Electrical Certificates is essential.
• Minimum of 1year working experience as an Electrical Engineering Assistant is essential.
• Valid Medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate.

COMPETENCIES:

• Must be able to communicate fluently in English.
• Must have knowledge with regard to fundamentals of electricity.
• Must understand the uses and safety aspects associated with flammable energy sources.
• Must be able to identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand tools.
• Must be able to select, use and care for engineering measuring equipment.
• Must be able to select, use and care for electrical measuring instruments.
• Must have knowledge with regards to telecommunication cable testing and installation of telephones

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Install and testing batteries for dead cells and replacing defective batteries.
• Assist with cleaning of battery-bay area, checking and charging batteries.
• Maintain battery record systems.
• Install, Maintain and repair haulage lighting systems underground.
• Identify, inspect, and clean electrical machines.
• Maintain and repair single phase and three phase AC machines and control gears.
• Conduct fault finding, test and repair stope machinery circuits less than 525volts.
