Job Title: TMM Shift Supervisor

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To take charge of gangs, instructors, and trainees to mine a section of the workings of the mine in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act Regulation 8.1 for training purposes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 /Standard 10/NQF Level 4 is essential
- Valid Blasting certificate is essential
- Production Supervisor Training Course is essential
- 3 - 5 years experience as a Trackless Shift Supervisor is essential, preferably Bord and Pillar mining method
- Valid Medical Certificate, or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate is essential.
- Basic computer literacy is essential.
COMPETENCIES:
- Must have supervisory and managerial skills
- Must have good interpersonal and good communications skills
- Must have analytical skills.
- Must have knowledge with regard to mine standards best practices, risk management and operational business objectives
- Must have Technical working knowledge with regards to stoping, development, survey, equipping, explosives, Board and Pillar Mining.
- Knowledge of safety policies, procedures and regulations are essential
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examines and makes safe required working areas.
- Ensure compliance to managerial and Health and Safety Act legislative requirements as stipulated in 2.15.1 appointment.
- Achieve planned production target through effective planning, organising, leading and control as well as quality assurance in mining activities.
- Effectively manage human resources by discipline, guiding, motivating and developing of his or her mining personnel.
- Effectively manage and maintain all physical resources allocated to him/her by management.
- Effectively manage and control the financial resources allocated to him/her section.
- Timeously generate, submit and complete all administrative documentation required for this position.
- Ensure effective two-way communication within the department in terms of policies, procedures, health and safety related issues and any other day to day working arrangements.
