PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To supervise the safe, effective, and efficient operation of a designated section in the metallurgical plant
.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 / Std. 10 (NQF Level 4) certificate is essential
- Completed all modules and required process unit standards as per career path
- At least 5 years working experience as Plant Shift Leader in a Processing Plant will be essential
- Must have drivers license and own transport
- Completed the Impala Supervisory Programme (ISP) is essential
- Computer Literacy (MS Office) is essential
- Previous relieving/acting experience as a Foreman would be advantageous
- Completion of PTO & disciplinary handling training would be advantageous
- Completion of IMDP would be advantageous
- Completion of the Foreman Development Programme would be advantageous

- Must have good organising and delegation skills
- Must be self-driven and highly motivated with good interpersonal skills
- Must have good leadership skills
- Must maintain a high standard of work
- Must have good communication skills - must be able to communicate in English
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check staffing figures at the start of shift and ensure that all plant activities are functionally covered.
- Manage production process activities, trends, and brief subordinates accordingly at the start of each shift.
- Take corrective actions and instruct staff accordingly in significant deviations in the plant processing which may influence safety or production.
- Ensure work schedules are adhered to.
- Interpret information from plant readings and determine required adjustments to maximise production.
- Hand over shift reporting on all required information to the next Plant Foreman.
- Meet daily operational targets.
- Performs such administrative functions as may be required.
- Maintain a reliable reporting and communication system.
