PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that the reporting of a fast and accurate analysis of samples to process in order to facilitate the continuation of production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • NQF Level 4 (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the laboratory department.
  • Must have completed all dayshift Analyst modules as per the BML CPDP.
  • Knowledge of specific laboratory processes/instruments/equipment.
  • Knowledge of related company policies, procedures rules and regulations.
  • Computer literacy proficiency i.e. MS Office (Excel), LIMS and SAP.
  • Must be detail-conscious with strong organising and analytical skills.
  • Good communication-, interpersonal-, timekeeping, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must be medically fit for the Base Metal Refinery (BMR).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyse samples and liaise with internal customers to ensure that feedback on results are accurate.
  • Prepare standards and reagents for analysis.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure that the equipment is in good working order.
  • Ensure SHEQ standards are followed to prevent incidents and non-conformities.
  • Order stock on SAP to ensure that stock control is maintained.
  • Do planned job observations to ensure that all work procedures are updated.
  • Assist the Lab Supervisor to ensure that samples are checked and monitored, and results are reported to customers/operations and act in the Lab Supervisor position when required.
