PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Provides operational engineering services and is responsible for daily monitoring and maintenance of all the conveyor belts taking the ore from the shafts to the concentrator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 /STD 10 (NQF 4) is essential
- Belt Repairing and Minor Maintenance skills certificate
- 3 years UG belt experience in a mining environment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts daily inspection on the conveyor belt to check belt condition.
- Reports to the Engineering Supervisor to obtain work orders and instruction.
- Ensures that all the required material and spares are available to team members to conduct work.
- Identifies any problems that may cause problems in the future and advises the Engineering Supervisor.
- Inspects the quality of workmanship of the team.
- Ensures that the area around the conveyor belts is clean and well kept.
- Informs the Engineering Supervisor of any potential problems associated to the conveyor belt.
- Assists during breakdowns or emergencies.
- Plans daily and weekly work orders with team.
- Allocates labour resources and equipment to work orders and prioritises activities.
- Oversees the development of a healthy spirit of co-operation within the team.
- Monitors the conveying process to identify any possible problems or risk areas and advises accordingly.
- Ensures that work assignments are completed according to set procedures
