PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure that legal environmental requirements and the Implats environmental strategy are understood and implemented into the operational, capital and growth decision making and operational activities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma/Degree in Environmental Management is essential
- Environmental Specialist with a minimum of 5 years' experience in an environmental field, of which at least 3 years should be in mining related environment is essential
- Knowledge of Isometrix/ CURA or environmental programs is essential
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements as well as HSE Management system (ISO 14001/ 45001) is essential
- Valid medical certificate or be medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To manage environmental authorisation processes.
- To manage the implementation and compliance to issued authorisations conditions and commitments.
- To manage the development of Group Environmental Standards in line with international best practices.
- To ensure implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001system.
- To advise managers and committees on environmental issues during all phases of projects and operational life cycles.
- To undertake due diligent studies and accordingly inform acquisition strategies.
- To assist with the development of Implats Group Environmental Policy and Standards.
- To ensure proactive management of anticipated legislative changes and international best practices.
- To ensure effective internal and external environmental networking with relevant stakeholders.
- To ensure the implementation of and compliance to Implats Environmental Policy and Strategy by setting and managing appropriate environmental objectives and targets.
