PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To monitor and analyse metallurgical data with the aim of optimising plant processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- BTech or Degree in Chemical Engineering, Extractive Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Pyro Metallurgical is essential.
- Working experience in a Metallurgist position will be considered an advantage.
- Hydro-Metallurgical or Pyro metallurgical production experience will be advantageous.
- Computer literacy (MS Office package and SAP) is essential.
- Project experience will be considered advantageous.
- ECSA registration will be considered advantageous.
- A valid drivers licence will be considered advantageous.
- Valid medical certificate or must be medically fit In order to obtain such a certificate
COMPETENCIES:
- Must be result orientated.
- Networking and good interpersonal skills is essential.
- Analytical skills are essential.
- Technical knowledge is essential.
- Must be resilient, be able to adapt and be hardworking.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee, monitor and analyse plant metallurgical processes.
- Develop means to optimise plant metallurgical processes.
- Conduct sampling surveys to collect plant data.
- Research new and innovative processes with the objective of refining processes in use
- Ensure production targets are met according to plan.
- Investigate and implement systems to improve efficiencies.
- Conduct troubleshooting exercises to improve grades.
- Ensure maximum plant availability.
- Implement the necessary change management programmes.
- Assist with the management of capital projects within budget.
- Plan initiatives and monitor maintenance and plant upgrading.
- Conduct statistical analyses and report on plant productivity.
