DOMAIN: BMR ENGINEERING NICKEL INSTRUMENTS
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To ensure plant availability and adequate systems control to assist operations in meeting production targets by resolving problems in plant instrumentation, PLC hardware / program / SCADA.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- NQF Level 6 National Diploma in Instrumentation and Process Control with an Instrument Mechanician Trade Test essential.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in control systems, including SCADA and PLC Networks required.
- Knowledge and experience on the Allen Bradley PLC is an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of process control systems, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
- Knowledge of HAZOP studies and a good understanding of mining / refining and chemical plant processes.
- Excellent calculation, problem solving, analytical and advanced computer skills.
- Medically fit for Base Metal Refineries (BMR).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Control and perform instrumentation maintenance by conducting regular plant inspections, perform consistent plant maintenance, purchase spares and maintain spare levels.
- Implement modifications and renewals by attending HAZOP studies, select and purchase required equipment.
- Install and commission equipment, including PLC commissioning and programming.
- Perform and document calibrations as per ISO standards on relevant equipment.
- Attend to breakdowns and assist instrumentation personnel on technical matters to maintain optimal plant availability.
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, health, environmental and quality standards / procedures.
