Job Title: TM3 UV Operator

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To safely load transport ore, material and explosives by means of a Utility Vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 /Matric (NQF 4) is essential.
  • UV Operator Competency Certificate
  • 1-3 years experience as UV operator in Trackless environment

COMPETENCIES:

  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Perform basic fire fighting
  • Perform basic first aid
  • Operate a Utility Vehicle underground
  • Demonstrate Knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in and around a workplace
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of safe and efficient transport processes in an underground hard rock environment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the most common harmful gases and vapours
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant terminology used in mining-range of underground hard rock
  • Demonstrate an awareness of customer service

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check Mobile Equipment at Shift and end of shift for any defects
  • Operate the Mobile Equipment in accordance with laid down procedures
  • Maintain the Mobile Equipment in good order
  • Report defects to the Supervisor and Maintenance Department
  • Transport and Distribute explosives using a Heavy-Duty Explosive Vehicle or a Self-Propelled mobile machine
  • Transport material and equipment
  • Take charge of and drive a trackless mobile machine in an underground mine
  • Adhere to rules and regulations of underground transport
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in area of responsibility
