PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To provide an engineering technical service to a section at a Business Area, Maintain, install and commission engineering components of the winder machinery and equipment to an agreed standard in responsibility.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) or NQF 4 equivalent
- Recognised relevant Trade Qualification or NTC 2 specialised course is essential
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years working experience as an Artisan is essential
- Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace
- Valid medical certificate is essential and must be fit in order to obtain such a certificate
COMPETENCIES:
- Must have knowledge of Winding parts
- Must have knowledge of Winder maintenance system
- Must have Winder fault finding skills
- Must have planning and organizing skills
- Must have observation and interpretation Skills
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Read, interpret and produce basic engineering drawings
- Operate and monitor a drilling machine to produce simple components
- Operate and monitor a lathe to produce simple components
- Operate and monitor a milling machine to produce simple components
- Operate and monitor a surface grinding machine to produce simple components
- Operate and monitor a key cutting machine to cut keyways
- Identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for engineering hand tools
- Select, use and care for engineering measuring equipment
- Select, use and care for engineering power tools
- Provides input to the planning process within the area of control and executes the approved plan in accordance
- with policies, procedures and processes to ensure achievement of production targets.
- Adheres to safety and legal requirements.
- Compiles and completes accurate reports including safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports; shift and work order reports and ad hoc reports.
