PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Electrician is responsible to provide a technical service to a section or unit. Designs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems and products used in the business.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12/NQF 4 is required.
  • Certified competent as an Electrician Trade (Section 13/Section 26D) is required.
  • Medium Voltage Certificate is required.
  • 3 years electrician experience in underground mining is required.
  • 3 years Trackless/Conventional Mining experience is advantageous.
  • Valid code 8 drivers' license.
  • A Valid Red Ticket or medical fitness to obtain such a certificate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide input to the planning process within the area of control and execute the approved plan in accordance with policies, procedures and processes to ensure achievement of production targets.
  • Perform equipment maintenance services according to the required standards and specifications.
  • Maintain a safe and productive workplace.
  • Compile and complete accurate reports including safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports; shift and work order reports and ad hoc reports.
  • Utilize appropriate tools / Correct to complete tasks.
  • Make materials and equipment available for the shift requirements.
  • Underground MV and LV distribution.
  • Plan, schedule and supervise / coordinate subordinate's activities within a process or service to achieve efficiency and quality goals.
  • Comply with MHSA requirements.
  • Advise management on business improvements initiatives identified.
  • Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
  • Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
