DEPARTMENT / SHAFTS
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To conduct surveying data collection analysis and reporting into information system for survey and valuation on the mine. To perform survey work within the allowable limits of error in accordance with chapter 17 of the MHSA
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF4 Equivalent is essential.
- Basic survey certificate is essential
- 2 years survey and sampling are essential.
- 2 years stope survey and measurement experience is essential.
COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principle in and around a workplace.
- Understanding of the identification of and dealing with rock strata conditions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the most common harmful gases and vapours.
- Good communication skill (Fluent in English).
- Excellent Excel, Ms Word & PowerPoint skills (Level 3).
- Report writing & minute taking skills.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Underground Excavation Measurements
- Performs underground excavation measurement.
- Install Survey pegs.
- Processing
- Gathers information pertaining to the survey.
- Obtains the Miners permission to enter the workplace and notifies all personnel at workplace of Surveying.
- Determines the precise location of work area and survey points (including new survey points)
- Tests the hanging wall and assess the general safely of the work area.
- Survey pegs in accordance with standard by utilising the Theodolite.
- Estabilishes side grade pegs in a flat development end.
- Captures survey data on the MRM system.
- Quality Mining
- Identifies and verifies the selected mining horizon.
- Check for accumulation of ore in back area.
