PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To safely load and transport ore, material by means of a Skid Steer Loader.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent is essential.
- Skid Steer Operator Certificate is essential.
- 1-year underground experience within the mining environment is essential
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrate understanding of the importance of safe and efficient transport processes in an underground hard rock environment
- Demonstrate knowledge of the most common harmful gases and vapors.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant terminology used in mining-range of underground hard rock.
- Demonstrate an awareness of customer service.
- Operate a Skid Steer Loader underground.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Check Mobile Equipment at start of shift and at end of shift for any defects.
- Operates the Mobile Equipment in accordance with laid down procedures.
- Maintains the Mobile Equipment in good order
- Transports materials by means of a Steer Loader in an underground workplace.
- Takes charge of and drives a trackless mobile machine in an underground mine.
- Adheres to rules and regulations of underground transport.
- Supports and participates in change management initiatives to drive transformation and optimization.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
