PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, IFRS‑compliant financial information, maintaining strong internal controls, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. The successful candidate will review and sign off complex accounting deliverables, guide a team of Financial Accountants, and work closely with senior stakeholders across the Group.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • BCom (Hons) / CTA (NQF Level 8) required.
  • Registered Chartered Accountant (SAICA).
  • 6 years' experience post-articles in audit / accounting within a large corporate entity or Big 4 environment.
  • Experience in the mining sector, exposure to consolidations, and Group reporting will be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP/Oracle, advanced software packages, IFRS, JSE requirements, financial policies, and budgeting fundamentals.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, analytical and auditing skills
  • High level of emotional maturity.
  • Sound presentation, report writing, communication and time mgt, planning and auditing skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Review operational transactions, accruals, reconciliations and non‑standard/complex accounting entries to ensure full compliance with IFRS.
  • Manage key accounting processes including rehabilitation provisions, stock calculations, sales, and IFRS 2 share‑based compensation liabilities.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including consolidated Annual Financial Statements, in line with applicable accounting policies.
  • Oversee the compilation and finalisation of company‑specific budgets where applicable.
  • Compile and review ad‑hoc financial analysis and reports within required timeframes.
  • Establish, monitor and enforce internal control processes aligned to the approval framework and audit‑committee requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare audit working papers for both internal and external auditors, and support audit activities.
  • Oversee monthly working‑capital reconciliations and manage resolution of outstanding queries.
  • Manage fixed asset registers, ensuring correct depreciation methods, residual values and useful‑life assessments.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on finance and accounting queries and ensure effective use of SAP, Excel and web‑based systems.
  • Maintain CA(SA) professional registration through ongoing CPD.
  • Train, develop and mentor employees in line with organisational requirements
