PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Electrician is responsible to provide a technical service to a section or unit. Designs, installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems and products used in the business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/Matric (with mathematics and Physical Science)/NQF 4 is required
- Certified component as an Electrician. Trade test (Section 13/Section 26D) is required
- Medium Voltage Certified is required. Substation maintenance
- 3 Years Electrician experience in underground mining is required
- 3 Years' experience conventional mining is advantageous
- Certificate of Fitness
- Valid Driving License

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide input to the planning process within the area of control and execute the approved plan in accordance with policies, procedures and processes to ensure achievement of production targets.
- Maintain a safe and productive workplace.
- Compile and complete accurate reports including safety, injury, hazard, risk and incident reports: shift and work order reports and as hoc reports.
- Make materials and equipment available for the shift requirements.
- Co-ordinate multi-task team members to complete assigned work tasks or orders.
- Comply with MHSA requirements.
- Underground MV and LV distribution.
- Identifies and recommends initiatives aimed at eliminating waste, improving productivity and reducing operating costs within scope and assists with the implementation thereof to contribute to the achievement of operational objectives.
- Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.
- Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
- Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment is safety and hazard free.
