PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To develop and manage schedules for projects, mainly in the fields of construction, mining and engineering, community development; assist project managers with schedule planning, coordinating tasks, monitoring timelines, identifying potential delays and facilitating remedial action
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 is essential.
- Diploma/Degree in Mining/Engineering/Construction or related field of study is essential
- 5 Years' experience as a Project Scheduler in Mining/Engineering/Construction industry is essential
- Experience with project scheduling, such as Tasks/Gantt charts is essential
- Extensive experience in schedule planning and management is essential
- Experience of working with SAP projects is essential
- Experience of scheduling in MS Project and Primavera is essential
- Proven work experience with an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
- Advanced experience in software development and/or business development
- Project Management Institute Scheduling Professional certificate
- PMP – Scheduling Management
- Advanced computer skills with the ability to use MS Office with proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Develop, implement and maintain an effective scheduling management system
- To work closely with Project Managers to create a comprehensive action plan concerning resources, budgets and timeframes for projects and to design, develop and maintain detailed resource-loaded schedules for implementation, developmental and operational systems.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Develop and foster relationships with project stakeholders, consistent with the communication management plan, in order to enhance support for the project schedule and to work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, procurement staff, construction managers, contractors and other project services staff to provide detailed planning and scheduling of projects from conceptual planning through engineering and mining.
- Identify potential project schedule delays and facilitate intervention in a timeous manner.
- Collaborate with a variety of teams, including technical resources, end-user groups, and stakeholders to document business requirements, processes and workflows and to maintain careful documentation of all schedule submittals and related facts, so that any requests for time adjustments can be measured against the accepted schedule in place at the time any delays or changes were experienced
- Apply vast knowledge of engineering, procurement and construction terminology and concepts to develop and maintain critic path logic networks; accumulate and access historical data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.
- Link project schedules with the overarching program, Investment Portfolio, functional area and/or other Integrated Master Plans (IMPs) and to develop and or modify project schedules and or the integration of multiple project schedules into an overall Master Program Schedule.
- Provide hands-on development of layered schedules and IMPs that address how an acquisition project is progressing and how that project contributes to overarching requirements and objectives.
- Assess the impact of design changes and schedule slippages and inform company management and clients of all schedule updates
