PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Executive: Corporate Development is responsible for leading and advancing the Group's corporate development agenda through the delivery of rigorous analysis, strategic insight, and disciplined execution of transactions and initiatives. The role focuses on driving long-term value creation through portfolio optimisation, growth strategy development, capital allocation, and strategic investment decision-making, ensuring alignment with Group strategy and governance frameworks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- NQF level 7 qualification in Business / Commerce / Mining, or related discipline
- Post-graduate qualification (e.g. MBA, CFA) will be advantageous
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years' experience in in-house Corporate Development, M&A, Investment Banking or related advisory environment (mining experience required).
- Proven experience in leading and negotiating transactions, transaction origination and execution, due diligence and valuation.
- Advanced financial modelling and valuation capability
- Strong understanding of corporate strategy, capital allocation, and growth frameworks
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Strong interpersonal/ emotional intelligence and communication skills, ability to operate professionally and effectively at all levels in the organisation
- Good organization skills and experience to lead cross-functional work streams, manage and deliver on deadlines
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to the Group Executive: Corporate Development, be responsible for leading and supporting corporate development activities across the Implats Group including origination, evaluation, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and execution
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritise acquisitions, partnership, and growth opportunities driving business transformation initiatives and partnering with senior executives to drive and execute strategic opportunities
- Lead all aspects of the transaction process from establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant external parties through to sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and execution
- Integrate external market insights, industry trends, and competitive dynamics to develop and maintain a pipeline of strategic investment opportunities aligned to Group strategy
- Provide strategic analysis and insights to support Exco and Board decision-making
- Together with the Corporate Development team, primary responsibility for building and maintaining financial models for the evaluation of corporate development activities and strategic growth initiatives
- Translate the Group's corporate development activities into clear and actionable documentation tailored for different audiences, including the Board, Exco and external stakeholders
- Ensure alignment with governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders, including Exco, Board, investors, and advisors
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on corporate development and strategic priorities
