PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To monitor and control equipment and processes in a control room from a Mineral Processing Environment in terms of compliance with operational procedures and quality assurance requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) is essential.
  • 3 years' experience in the Rail Transport Environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of Rail Network is essential.
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office) is essential.
  • Valid Medical Certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate.
  • Having TCO exposure and TCO training will be and advantage

COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be self-driven, initiative-taking with good people skills.
  • Must maintain a high standard of work.
  • Must have good organizing, delegation skills and communication skills in English.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • To monitor and control the rail equipment, railway operations and processes to ensure that other team members are aware of critical information.
  • To apply preventive and/or remedial action in accordance with operating procedures/railway network.
  • To respond to non-conformances and emergencies in the railway environment.
  • To contribute to team goals, achievements, and efficiencies by adhering to agreed working methods.
  • To conduct shift handover and hand over activities to ensure safe and continuous operation in a processing/railway environment.
  • To monitor the operational parameters in a mineral processing/railway environment and to take corrective action.
  • To monitor operational data and proactively take action to prevent rail deviations.
  • To interpret, record and report rail data obtained and complete reports and log sheets.
  • To work according to the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations/railway safety regulator standards (Verbal Safety Critical Communication VSCC)
  • To work and interpret technologically advanced instrumentations signal and computer systems.
  • To performing an administrative function of ensuring that the data obtained from the SCADA is recorded in the relevant logbooks or any other relevant documentation.
