PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manufacture and reproduce mechanical parts in a safe and efficient manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 (with Mathematics and Physical Science) or NQF level 4
  • Recognised relevant Trade Qualification or NTC 2 specialised course
  • 3-5 Years experience as an artisan.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.
  • Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.
  • Builds, supports and maintains healthy diverse internal relations and implement remedial actions where required.
  • Provides relevant support to stakeholders to ensure team objectives are achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in workplace.
  • Performs basic firefighting
  • Perform basic first aid
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Read, interpret and produce basic engineering drawings
  • Operate and monitor a drilling machine to produce simple components
  • Operate and monitor a lathe to produce simple components
  • Operate and monitor a surface grinding machine to produce simple components
  • Operate and monitor a key cutting machine to cut keyways
  • Operate a power saw to cut ferrous metals
  • Identify, inspect, use, maintain and care for the engineering hand tools
  • Select, use and care for engineering measuring equipment
