PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To monitor and control the safe, effective, and efficient operation of a designated section in the metallurgical plant

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent) certificate is essential.
  • Completed all modules and required Process Unit Standards.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Plant Operator.
  • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid Medical Certificate is essential or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Plant Processes (Concentrator)
  • Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of monitoring and instrumentation and the
  • ability to take measurements from installed instrumentation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the relevant terminology used in mining
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the various activities related to the processing of minerals
  • Perform basic first aid.
  • Prepare, set up and operate process equipment.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Check staff figures at start of shift and ensure that all plant activities are functionally covered.
  • Monitor processes during shift and take corrective actions as and when required.
  • Ensure work schedules are adhered to.
  • Monitor the capturing of plant readings taken by plant operators.
  • Ensure effective communication between the foreman, team members as well as other shifts.
  • Operate all aspects of concentration in an efficient and controlled manner to meet production targets.
  • Train and develop sub-ordinates.
  • Adhere to safety practices, operational discipline, procedures, and good housekeeping as laid down by management.
