PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To develop candidates on a registered learnership programme intended to provide learners with applied competence to qualify as a Miner upon successful completion of the training programme and obtaining their Blasting Certificate through the DMPR, which is not limited to acting/relieving as a Miner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Academic Qualification (Standard 8 / Grade 10, or N1 Certificate, provided that N1 Certificate Holders have 6 subjects to their credit, or ABET Level 3 certificate or equivalent).
- Underground Trackless Mining (Board & Pillar) experience
- TMM primary operator's experience will be advantageous.
- Duration for the program is 24 months (2 years)
THE CANDIDATE MUST:
- Undergo psychometric assessment with a recommended result and attend a formal interview.
- Obtain a valid medical fitness certificate.
- Pass RFA, OHB, & HTS).
COMPETENCIES:
- Must have knowledge of Winding parts
- Communication skills are essential.
- Ability to solve problems is essential.
- Planning and organising skills are essential.
- Have successfully completed Competent A & B (Advantageous).
- Have successfully completed Blasting Assistant competency (Advantageous).
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
- Read, interpret and produce basic engineering drawings
- Successfully complete all Mining training phases (Theory & Practical) and through on and off the job training.
- Adapt to Implats rules, regulations and standards to ensure organisational best practices and legislative compliance are adhered to.
- Spend a predetermined time on training of the various or required departments.
- Ensure legal compliance of the Mine Standards and MHSA.
- Achieve set production and safety targets.
- Act as a Miner with limited authority to gain relevant skills and experience.
- Effectively manage and resolve conflicts and problems.
- To be able to manage and lead employees under his/her direct supervision.
- To obtain a Blasting Certificate.
