A specialist Paediatric practice in Vanderbijlpark is seeking to recruit a Medical Receptionist to commence employment from 1 July 2026. The successful candidate will be professional, organised, and patient-focused, with the ability to create a welcoming environment for children and their families while supporting the administrative and operational functions of the practice.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer all calls in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner
- Take messages and ensure they are communicated to the relevant person
- Communicate with patients via phone, email, and SMS regarding appointments and enquiries
- Manage appointment scheduling and diary coordination
- Prepare patient files for upcoming consultations
- Welcome patients and parents in a friendly and professional manner
- Communicate delays and manage patient expectations effectively
- Verify and update patient information and records
- Open new patient accounts and accurately capture patient information on the practice system
- Assist with obtaining referral letters, laboratory results, radiology reports, and other relevant correspondence
- Ensure patients receive all necessary information and documentation relating to consultations, procedures, and hospital admissions
- Arrange hospital admissions where required
- Liaise with Obstetricians and Gynaecologists regarding theatre attendance and newborn consultations
- Type dictated reports, letters, and medical correspondence
- Maintain filing systems and patient records
- Liaise with hospitals, healthcare providers, suppliers, and service providers where required
- Assist the doctor with general administrative and practice-related duties.
Qualification and Requirements:
- Matric / Grade 12
- Previous experience in a similar medical receptionist position is essential
- Experience within a specialist medical practice will be advantageous
- Computer literacy essential, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with medical practice software advantageous
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
- Strong administrative and organisational skills

Work Hours:
Monday to Friday, 08h00 - 17h00
