A specialist medical practice in Weltevredenpark is seeking a Junior Medical Admin Assistant to provide administrative and patient support. The ideal candidate will be organised, efficient and compassionate, with strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions while assisting with the daily operations of a busy medical practice, including administrative support for palliative care patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel.
  • Send clinical reports and manage relevant correspondence.
  • Check patient accounts on Elite Health and verify information against physical files.
  • Follow up on registrations for HIV and AIDS palliative care benefits.
  • Make initial contact with patients, families and relevant healthcare providers when required.
  • Create and manage family WhatsApp groups for patient communication and coordination.
  • Update the practice diary daily, including patient visits and administrative activities.
  • Provide reception cover during lunchtime and assist with telephone enquiries.
  • Follow instructions and coordinate tasks communicated through mobile phone WhatsApp groups.
  • Request and obtain patient documentation from other medical practices when required.
  • Arrange hospital beds and oxygen for palliative care patients.
  • Manage a portion of the diary for locum doctors.
  • Perform general administrative duties, filing, scanning and document management.
  • Assist with patient-related administration and day-to-day practice support.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive medical information appropriately.

Qualification and Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel essential.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in both English and Afrikaans.
  • A valid driver's licence and own reliable transport would be advantageous but are not essential.
  • Previous medical administration or healthcare experience would be advantageous.

Working hours:

  • Monday to Thursday from 08h00 – 16h00
