About the job Analytics Intern
The Illinois Policy Institute is seeking an Analytics Intern. The intern will work closely with the data and operations team to identify data sources and design data visualizations to help make complex policy issues more accessible to the public. The Analytics Intern will play a critical role in creating a transparent and user-friendly platform for public access to data.
For 8-12 weeks, you'll work in our Chicago office with our analysts and experts as a member of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of a public access data portal, including identifying and sourcing data sets, building data visualizations, and developing user-friendly interfaces.
- Work with the research team to develop best practices for data collection, analysis, and presentation.
- Conduct data analysis and create data visualizations to support the Institute's research initiatives.
- Assist in the maintenance and updating of the data portal, ensuring that data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Conduct research and provide support to the research team as needed.
Qualifications:
- An interest in public policy and liberty principles.
- Have or be working toward a bachelor's degree with a focus on government, economics, econometrics, statistics or mathematics, computer science, data science/engineering or other quantitative discipline.
- Excellent data analysis and writing skills, proficiency in Excel, high attention to detail, the ability to work as part of a team, and a positive attitude.
- Proficiency with R, Python, Tableau, or SQL is a plus
This position will begin this summer in June 2025.
