IT Service Design Lead / Service Transition Lead
Hybrid working Bristol.
We are looking for an experienced Service Design Lead to join a leading international professional services organisation to ensure the seamless integration of new or modified services into the live service portfolio of our clients business systems.
The role.
In the position of Service Design Lead, your work will ensure that these integrations have minimum negative impact to service operations and permit the BAU workings of our client.
You can expect to collaborate with Business Analysis, Governance, Architecture, Security, and technical teams to ensure delivered services meet business requirements.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will be to
- Lead Service Design efforts on projects, capturing and documenting service and support requirements while aligning core operational processes.
- Negotiate service level agreements and contracts to ensure effective fulfilment of service level requirements.
- Develop and maintain standard Service Design Procedures, Artifacts & Templates, integrating them into all aspects of IT delivery.
- Oversee the smooth transition of new and modified services into live operations, utilizing defined service packages and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain and update Service Now to reflect changes in services.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to define and agree on transitional phases with relevant teams.
- Ensure quality assurance processes meet expectations, assisting in building test scripts against design requirements.
- Identify and implement improvements to Service processes, driving a standard approach for project phase to acceptance by Service and Support Teams.
- Manage Service Transition risks and issues, contributing to effective communication of new and modified services to the business.
- Provide information for building business cases for new or changed products and services.
About you.
We are looking for someone to act as Act as an SME for IT in Service Design & Transition. You should be able to demonstrate proven acumen in the following skills and experiences.
- Proficient understanding of ITIL with v3 foundation level as a minimum.
- Familiarity with project lifecycle methodologies (e.g., Prince 2, Agile IT).
- Strong relationship-building skills across all organizational levels. You should have the ability to effectively work within a diverse and inclusive team, supporting individual development.
- Solid IT skills, adaptability to new tech solutions, and effective problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Experience in process mapping, flow diagram creation, and related documentation.
- Ability to act as a reference point for a delivery team and negotiate with technical experts.
- Experience in negotiating with third-party suppliers.
- Understanding of configuration management, including licensing models.
- Previous use of service management tools (preferably ServiceNow) and SharePoint is advantageous.
- Flexibility and willingness to work additional hours occasionally, including potential international travel or meetings outside normal UK hours.
